Telecom-equipment maker Nokia is set to report fourth-quarter results on Thursday, and attention will extend far beyond its headquarters in Finland.
Nokia NOK, +3.09% NOKIA, +1.26% has been one of the favorite stocks of the U.S. retail crowd that convenes on the Reddit WallStreetBets forum. Its U.S.-listed shares soared so much that the company had to issue a statement saying there was no fundamental reason for the increase. Since mid January, the stock has retreated to more or less the same level as before the speculative interest.
According to FactSet, analysts are expecting earnings of €0.11 per share on sales of €6.4 billion for the fourth quarter. Nokia is expected to benefit from telecom operators ordering equipment for 5G networks.
Rival Ericsson ERIC, +2.62% reported forecast-beating results on 5G network demand.
