Week’s Best: Social Security Payments Set to Jump

The Social Security Administration has approved the largest increase in its cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, since 1982, announcing a 5.9% jump to take effect next year. That move will affect some 64 million Social Security beneficiaries. The maximum monthly benefit will increase to $3,345 per month.
