Global Battery Metals expands drill program at Irish lithium project

The NW Leinster property exhibits a comparable structural and stratigraphic setting to Ganfeng and International Lithium Corporation’s Avalonia project

“The target areas are along the same lithium pegmatite trend as the Avalonia project, where Ganfeng Lithium Co. Ltd. and International Lithium Corporation have previously drilled high-grade lithium pegmatite at Aclare and Moylisha,” Michael Murphy, Global Battery Metals CEO, said in a media statement.

Murphy said that the NW Leinster property exhibits a comparable structural and stratigraphic setting to Avalonia, which lies between 20 kilometres (Moylisha) and 30 kilometres (Aclare) along strike to the southwest forming a semi-continuous zone of discrete lithium-bearing pegmatites and aplites.

“The strike length of the Aclare target zone has been reported as 550 metres with best intersections of 2.23% Li20 over 23.3 metres including 3.43% Li20 over 6 metres drill width,” the miner said.

North-West Leinster is focused on the exploration of spodumene pegmatites in the north of the Leinster Massif, which is located in southeast Ireland. The project area is covered by 15 prospecting licenses termed the North-West Leinster Block, which covers a total area of 477.4 square kilometres.
